La sostenibilità nel diritto internazionale: spunti dalla prassi più recente

The sustainability principle is more and more debated as a principle of intergenerational responsibility, most notably in association to environmental protection. Under international law, the meaning of this principles has evolved starting from the end of the 19th century, culminating with the Agenda 2030 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly. The most interesting developments concerning this principle come from domestic case law and international case law, in particular in the field of human rights protection. However, the principle encounters many difficulties at inter-state level because of the strong economic and political competition among States.
