This article discusses the possible relationship between Theodore Metochites’ Poem 4 and two images: the mosaic cycle of the Massacre of the Innocents, located in the outer narthex of Chora Church, and an illumination portraying Synesius of Cyrene, found in two fourteenth-century manuscripts, i.e. Vatop. 685 and Suppl. gr. 660. On the basis of chronological data, the author rejects a relationship between Metochites’ poem and the first image. He proposes further palaeographic research in order to shed new light on the possible relationship between the poem and the second image.

On the basis of chronological data, the author rejects a relationship between Metochites’ poem and the first image. He proposes further palaeographic research in order to shed new light on the possible relationship between the poem and the second image.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
