Abstract The evaluation of critical thinking, given its central role in many areas of knowledge, is a central theme not only in the teaching (eld but also in all disciplinary sectors. This chapter presents a series of experimental technological tools for the automatic evaluation of critical thinking using the guidelines de(ned in the volume Verba Sequentur Thinking and writing for a critical development of competences at secondary school (Poce, 2017). The indicators of critical thinking are represented through the de(nition of objectively quanti(able elements in order to (nd algorithms for their automatic calculation through the analysis of open-ended texts. In this chapter we will be reporting on modern techniques and technological tools for the evaluation of critical thinking levels through the analysis of texts. We will concentrate in particular on the semantic analysis of tests suitable for the disambiguation of terms in written and spoken language.
