This article represents the second part of a larger work about the influence of the Italian novella in the structural and thematic organization of El Abencerraje. We propose to examine the story about Don Rodrigo’s continence, incorporated in the version transmitted by Villegas’ Inventario, by putting it in contrastive relationship with two novelle, one of them by ser Giovanni Fiorentino and, the other one, by Masuccio Salernitano. The purpose is to deepen the problem about the possible hypotext of this story of the Christian knight.
