The reviewed book starts from the idea that contemporary television series can be considered and analysed with the same (narratological) attention that scholars are used to dedicating to literature, given the quality and cultural sophistication of many of them. The review fully agrees with the curators' premises concerning the maturity of the televisual medium and its many points of encounter with literature, not least because of the existing sheer number of adaptations and appropriations from the classics and also from more recent texts. A slight perplexity remains as to the type of terminology and perspective adopted by some of the essays contained in the volume, which seem to be too ingrained in literature and may suggest the presence of a bias that, consolidated over centuries of printed culture, is still difficult to eradicate.
