L’Eritrea postcoloniale nelle foto della Polizia italiana

Post-colonial Eritrea in photographs of the Italian Police Force During the spring of 1941, following the Italian defeat in East Africa, British forces occupied the former Italian colonies. Despite their small numbers, British colonial officials took charge in Eritrea, compensating for the lack of personnel by enlisting officials and employees from the Italian administration. Most of the Ital ian officials were allowed to retain their positions, including members of the Cara binieri and the Police. Throughout the period from 1941 to 1952, the Italian Police documented their activities in various photo albums. These images, together with the records preserved in the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provide a unique insight into the perspective and emotions of the Italian community that still resided in the former colony.
