This paper presents a significant discovery at the Library and Archives of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising. Among the preserved collection of the Bonn philosopher Karl Joseph Windischmann (1775– 1839), numerous lecture notes from Hegel’s Heidelberg lectures have been rediscovered. They were meticulously transcribed by F. W. Carové, one of Hegel’s earliest students in Heidelberg, who received great admiration and support from Hegel himself. These invaluable documents, which found their way into the archives through the estate of Windischmann’s son Friedrich Heinrich Hugo Windischmann (1811 – 1861), provide access to Hegel’s first version of the Encyclopedia as he presented it during his time in Heidelberg. Prior to the discovery of these notes, there was no written record or documentation of the content of most of those lectures. Currently, an ongoing effort is underway to transcribe and edit these historic notes, with the aim of deepening our understanding of Hegelian philosophy during this pivotal period.
