This paper gives reports on research carried out by the authors during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic in Italy and Brazil. It addresses the delicate theme of changes that have taken place within families, and therefore in parent-child relations and time management, in a situation that was totally new for everyone. While it is true that in most cases parents seem to have fulfilled their function adequately, the constraints on their private lives have brought to the forefront the need for a renewed public debate on the family, education and rules.
