The social reintegration of prisoners in penal legislation in 19th century Italy|Il reinserimento sociale del detenuto nella legislazione penalistica dell’Italia liberale

This paper is the result of insight into a previous degree study on the Italian penitentiary system during liberal age. In the first paragraph, I dealt with the new conception of the rehabilitation penalty, and, in the second, with the functioning of the progressive penalty. The third paragraph is dedicated to a central institution in my research, conditional liberation, analyzed from the point of view of its legal nature, from a comparative perspective with other European countries, and, finally, in its application in Italy. The fourth para-graph, strongly linked to the previous one, focuses on the patronage societies for those released from prison, highlighting the implementation difficulties of the new penitentiary model and, specifically, of the resocialization of the convict.
