Vivere nel campo profughi: racconti da Aida Camp (Palestina)

Living in the refugee camp: stories from Aida Camp (Palestine). Our analysis focuses on a place that is at the same time idealized and symbolic as well as real and forgotten: the refugee camp. A series of interviews conducted between 2018 and 2020 in the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem (Palestine), reveal the stories and imaginaries of the people who inhabit it and the process of reterritorialization in which forms of self-governance germinate despite the fact that the migrant/refugee is relegated to a space of exception: the camp. In order to get to know Aida camp, we chose to cross the geographical approach of camp studies with microhistory, in an attempt to capture the evolution of Aida’s life. The combination of the two approaches moves following the same frame of reference for the interpretation of the Palestinian question: Settler Colonial studies.
