The power of early dissolution of the Chambers, a typical institution of parliamentary systems, is still a matter of political and scientific debate in Italy following the discussion of the constitutional reform project presented to Parliament by the Government in office. This contribution aims to reflect on the institution of dissolution in a comparative view – considering, in addition to the Italian one, the experiences of the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain – and, in light of this, evaluate possible reforms that do not modify the relations between Parliament, Government and Head of State too much and, in particular, of outlining a power that could be used against a parliamentary majority.

Abstract
The power of early dissolution of the Chambers, a typical institution of parliamentary systems, is still a matter of political and scientific debate in Italy following the discussion of the constitutional reform project presented to Parliament by the Government in office. This contribution aims to reflect on the institution of dissolution in a comparative view – considering, in addition to the Italian one, the experiences of the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain – and, in light of this, evaluate possible reforms that do not modify the relations between Parliament, Government and Head of State too much and, in particular, of outlining a power that could be used against a parliamentary majority.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
