Both contrastive linguistics and translation theory aim to define the notion of equivalence. Traditionally, contrastive descriptions have helped to guide translation practice, but the use of discursive equivalences observable in translation corpora to facilitate contrastive study and establish the tertium comparationis is less frequent. The contrastive observations on the Spanish construction subir arriba and the Italian salire su can be enriched by consulting a corpus of Spanish novels translated into Italian and a multilingual corpus of translations.

Abstract
Both contrastive linguistics and translation theory aim to define the notion of equivalence. Traditionally, contrastive descriptions have helped to guide translation practice, but the use of discursive equivalences observable in translation corpora to facilitate contrastive study and establish the tertium comparationis is less frequent. The contrastive observations on the Spanish construction subir arriba and the Italian salire su can be enriched by consulting a corpus of Spanish novels translated into Italian and a multilingual corpus of translations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
