The aim of the contribution presented here is to systematize the articulated experiential journey of Leone Pancaldo, who embarked as a sailor on the ship Trinidad which, along with four other vessels led by Fernão de Magalhães, left the port of Sanlúcar de Barrameda on September 20, 1519. From the diverse primary sources, some of which are little known, emerge the depiction of a man that, due to the fact he was born in the Ligurian city of Savona, had an unusual personality, a strong knowledge in trading and good navigation skills
