Instrumentalization of religious service for purposes contrary to partecipants' religious sentiment and to the values that the ritual wants to evoke and honor, constitutes the crime of "disturbance of religious service". In this way the Italian Supreme Criminal Court extends the interpretation of the Article 405 of the Italian Criminal Code and punishes who, during an ecclesiastical procession, ordinated two unjustified stops in front of the house of an important mafia boss' family. The extension is coherent with the legal asset, but il puts problems with the principle of "accurancy of criminal law", giving more discretion to the judge in establishing what is or not instrumentalization, and also with the difficulty to identify religious services and their instrumentalizations in a multicultural society.
