Hans Cornelius and Emil Preetorius, two prominent German intellectu als of the 20th century, collaborate between 1914 and 1920 at the Mu nich artistic training workshops. Both ponder an artistic education that considers the work of art as the outcome of human self-formation. The article thus investigates the lives of these two intellectuals, focusing in particular on the Kunst-pädagogik (art pedagogy) that emerged from their fruitful meeting.
