2. Verità storica e finzione letteraria. Dai modelli della tradizione alle strategie narrative contemporanee

The question of the relationship between history and literature today returns to draw your attention in a phase in which the tendency of narrative seems to be to swallow up history with the consequent risk, long felt, of confusing the specificities of the two disciplines. A problem more current than ever considering the permeability of the boundaries between true and false, reality and fiction, which generally pervades the forms of contemporary communication. Within the literary horizon, the widespread phenomenon of narrative reconstructions of historical facts and news has led critics to introduce a typological differentiation that identifies a, not always clear, boundary between the genre of fiction and that of non-fiction. A distinction that recalls the vexed questions that have seen truth and fiction contrast in our culture in all those cases in which literary narration has wanted to tell History. The essay, after having reconstructed the nature and complexity of such an ancient question that still questions us today, reports on the contemporary panorama of the new Millennium, where the preference given to the historical genre is particularly evident and, although narrowing the focus on the case of narratives on the theme of resistance, identifies the specificity of this phenomenon and of the narrative strategies.

La questione del rapporto tra storia e letteratura torna oggi a richiamare la sua attenzione in una fase in cui la tendenza della narrativa sembra essere quella di fagocitare la storia con conseguente rischio, avvertito da tempo, di confondere le specificità delle due discipline. Un problema quanto mai attuale considerando la permeabilità dei confini tra vero e falso, realtà e finzione, che pervade in generale le forme della comunicazione contemporanea. All’interno dell’orizzonte letterario, l’esteso fenomeno delle ricostruzioni narrative di fatti storici e di cronaca ha indotto la critica a introdurre una differenziazione tipologica che individua un, non sempre chiaro, confine tra il genere della fiction e quello della no fiction. Distinzione che rievoca la vexata questio che ha visto contrapporsi nella nostra cultura verità e finzione in tutti quei casi in cui la narrazione letteraria ha voluto raccontare la Storia. Il saggio, dopo aver ricostruito la natura e la complessità di una tale antica questione che non smette di interrogarci ancora oggi, riferisce sul panorama contemporaneo del nuovo Millennio, dove la preferenza accordata al genere storico è particolarmente evidente e, seppure restringendo il focus sul caso delle narrazioni a tema resistenziale, individua la specificità di questo fenomeno e delle strategie narrative.
