Heritage, imperialism and commodification: how the West can always do it best

This article argues that the progressive commodification of cultural heritage through the device of intellectual property, while leaving the artefacts in question physically intact, destroys their character as cultural heritage. This destruction by commodification of the cultural heritage of the non-Western World is, the article argues, a potent tool of Western neo-colonialism.
