This study provides a practical application of dramatic segmentation to two renowned Golden Age plays that rework the myth of Andromeda and Perseus: Lope de Vega’s La fábula de Perseo y Fortunas de Andrómeda y Perseo by Calderón de la Barca. The first part of the article focuses on the circular structure of Lope de Vega’s comedy and its overall cohesion, in contrast to the lack of unity previously noted by critics. In the second part, we analyse the distinctive construction presented by Calderón in his version of the same Ovidian myth, highlighting how these divergences appear to reflect a deliberate departure from the model set by the Phoenix.

Abstract
This study provides a practical application of dramatic segmentation to two renowned Golden Age plays that rework the myth of Andromeda and Perseus: Lope de Vega’s La fábula de Perseo y Fortunas de Andrómeda y Perseo by Calderón de la Barca. The first part of the article focuses on the circular structure of Lope de Vega’s comedy and its overall cohesion, in contrast to the lack of unity previously noted by critics. In the second part, we analyse the distinctive construction presented by Calderón in his version of the same Ovidian myth, highlighting how these divergences appear to reflect a deliberate departure from the model set by the Phoenix.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
