Abstract · Peter Handke’s Geological Writing · The essay discusses the relationship between Peter Handke’s work and geology starting from a reading of the short story Langsame Heimkehr, and an analysis of the relationships between writing and drawing in his Journale. Handke employs geology to elaborate a poetic programme with the aim of overcoming the anthropocentric perspective that marks modern thinking and aesthetics, with special regards to their relationships with nature. The essay points out some elements of Handke’s style that make his writing particularly significant for present reflection on the aesthetics of the Anthropocene.
