Although the religious dimension of the war that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine seems secondary to other aspects, it is one of its underlying threads. After all, it is a war in which Orthodox Christians are fighting against other Orthodox Christians – a tragic novelty in Con- temporary History. The conflict has further deepened existing divisions within Ukrainian Orthodoxy and shaken the Orthodox world, reshaping relationships and strengthening the connection between Nation and Religion.
