This short essay addresses the theme of women's words and silences from the birth of feminism to the present (in the various feminisms). For centuries, women have been a category deprived of subjectivity, constrained by their physique and irrational qualities, alien to the order of male discourse, excluded from citizenship and political affairs, bearers of an "irreducible difference embodied in their very bodies" (Martha Nussbaum). Despite being aware of their situation, they remained silent and invisible until, thanks to women in women's associations (religious and secular) and the feminist movement, they became aware of their condition and began to "speak" to express their discomfort. The journey has been long but fascinating, and it is still ongoing. In many cases, silence in these cases is even more loquacious than words and shouts. It seems that the linguistic codes for communicating one's positions are no longer clear and that the words to express new situations are lacking.

Abstract
It seems that the linguistic codes for communicating one's positions are no longer clear and that the words to express new situations are lacking.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
