This work aims to assert the necessity of revising the classifications of textual types to accommodate a category of textuality that has been underestimated so far: the egotexts. Egotexts can be considered a projection of endophasic language in written form (Tomasin 2023b; 2024). The reference to this type of text not only allows us to redefine the framework of textual typologies but also enables us to reinterpret some of the oldest written testimonies of Romance languages. The earliest Neo-Latin texts, in fact, have traditionally been considered written expressions of orality, but some of them seem to arise from the writing of mental intuitions and to function as mnemonic aids for personal use. In this work, after discussing the formal and textual characteristics of egotexts, we examine several of the earliest Romance texts from the Italian area to evaluate their relevance to the category of egotexts.

Abstract
In this work, after discussing the formal and textual characteristics of egotexts, we examine several of the earliest Romance texts from the Italian area to evaluate their relevance to the category of egotexts.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
