This study refers to Patrice Nganang’s recent body of work (2018-2022), which reflects a writing style increas-ingly committed to denouncing the so-called Anglophone crisis that has afflicted Cameroon since 2017. My focus is particularly on Mboudjak ou les aventures du chien-philosophe (2022), which revives the figure of the dog-narrator already introduced in Temps de chien (2001), as well as the unconventional street language break-ing into literature. After illustrating a few linguistic shifts observed in Cameroonian French in Mboudjak, I aim to show that the French-based language becomes pidginized as a form of resistance to the Francophone hegemony of the central government. This composite language thus becomes a lens through which the ongo-ing history of Cameroon is observed. It transforms into a political weapon under the scrutiny and vigilance of the “concierge de la République” − a plural enunciator embodied by the writer himself − in favour of a Second Republic which, according to the author’s vision, can only be federal.
