La riscoperta di Forma 1 negli anni Ottanta

Forma 1 was one of the most influential artistic groups of the post-war period. However, it broke up in the early 1950s, with its members pursuing very different artistic paths. Forty years after the publication of their manifesto, there was a renewed interest in the group’s history. The 1980s are widely recognized as a period marked by a revival of painting, alongside a renewed interest in 20th-century Italian art. In this context, several significant initiatives emerged, including international exhibitions. Through an analysis of these exhibitions and archival documents from the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, this contribution aims to explore how the positions of Forma were critically revisited and promoted during the 1980s, a process which also stirred some tensions.
