This article analyzes the findings of the Study Commission on the Diaconate established by Pope Francis in 2019. The response of this second Commission on the Diaconate was also swift, and the report was presented to Pope Leo XIV on December 4, 2025. No one was surprised by the "foregone" conclusion of the Commission, which clearly expressed its refusal. The issue to be resolved concerns the ordination of women to the diaconate: whether it is a third degree of Holy Orders, which would pave the way for the next step "ad sacerdotium," or whether the ordination of women to the diaconate is "ad ministerium," proper to all the baptized. From these premises arise the two opposing positions present within the Commission (and in the Church): the first is against the female diaconate and the second is in favor. At this point, the decisions, in response to the Commission's findings, fall to Pope Leo XIV.

Abstract
At this point, the decisions, in response to the Commission's findings, fall to Pope Leo XIV.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
