The article examines the literary fairy tale as a complex genre, distinct from the folk tale for its artistic awareness, symbolic depth, and engagement with psychological, social, and educational dimensions. It focuses on the nineteenth century and on Hans Christian Andersen, who redefined the fairy tale as a narrative space able to speak authentically to childhood without consolatory simplifications. In his works, magic, everyday life, and existential experience coexist, offering a representation of the human condition that values imagination, suffering, and personal development.
L’articolo analizza la fiaba d’autore come genere letterario complesso, distinto dalla fiaba popolare per consapevolezza artistica, profondità simbolica e intreccio con dimensioni psicologiche, sociali e educative. Particolare attenzione è rivolta all’Ottocento e a Hans Christian Andersen, autore che ridefinisce la fiaba come spazio narrativo capace di parlare autenticamente all’infanzia, senza edulcorazioni consolatorie. Nelle sue opere magia, quotidiano ed esperienza esistenziale convivono, offrendo una rappresentazione dell’umano che valorizza fantasia, dolore e formazione dell’individuo.
