Constitutional courts between law and politics: another view of the cathedral

This is a review essay on Dieter Grimm's book Constitutional Courts and Judicial Review, originally published in 2021, on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of the first judgement of the Bundesverfassungsgericht. The book is a collection of essays written by Grimm over several decades on the topic of judicial review of legislation, or constitutional adjudication, and its place in a contemporary constitutional democracy.
