This paper aims to analyse how diasporic and migrant memories take shape in the era of the “platform society”, focusing on the ways in which aesthetic codes and artivism practices help to shape demands for social justice in the digital public sphere. Starting from the findings of the research project “TRAMIGRART. From ‘spaces of violence’ to ‘places of memory’: the role of artistic practices in the in-scription of forced migration as cultural trauma in the public discourse” (www.tramigrart.it), the article explores how participatory artistic practices, digital archives and web content produced by migrant artists, members of collectives and human rights activists are embedded within the logic of algorithmic platforms and their affordances. From this perspective, artistic and communicative practices are considered as forms of situated memory work, in which memory is co-constructed and negotiated through the interaction between actors and platforms, within algo-rithmic environments that redefine the boundaries of visibility and oblivion. The analysis documents how such mediations affect the processes of visibility, circula-tion and recognition of marginalised memories in the digital public sphere, demonstrating at the same time how artistic practices, as forms of cultural agency, contribute to negotiating and re-signifying the devices of communication, trans-forming experiences of vulnerability and forced migration into shared public mem-ories.
