We propose a new Semi-Lagrangian scheme for the area-preserving Mean Curvature flow. The model uses a level set framework to propagate a closed planar curve. The corresponding flow has been proposed by Sapiro and Tannenbaum. The scheme has the advantage to allow large time step still maintaining a good accuracy. We apply the algorithm to recover the original shape of a synthetic image to which artificial noise has been added. The numerical result shows that the area is preserved during the filtering process.

Abstract
We propose a new Semi-Lagrangian scheme for the area-preserving Mean Curvature flow. The model uses a level set framework to propagate a closed planar curve. The corresponding flow has been proposed by Sapiro and Tannenbaum. The scheme has the advantage to allow large time step still maintaining a good accuracy. We apply the algorithm to recover the original shape of a synthetic image to which artificial noise has been added. The numerical result shows that the area is preserved during the filtering process.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
