The essay addresses the issue of modern insertions in historic centers, with particular reference to the German case. In the first part, infills are examined as different modes of intervention adopted for the reconstruction of the urban fabrics damaged by the war. In the second, the case of the historical center of Balvano, in the province of Potenza, is examined, in relation to the projects carried out by architects Botti and Eibl that have worked in the historic center damaged by the 1980 earthquake.

Il saggio affronta il tema delle inserzioni moderne nei centri storici, con particolare riguardo al caso tedesco. Nella prima parte, vengono verificate le diverse modalità di intervento adottate per il risarcimento dei tessuti urbani danneggiati dalla guerra. Nella seconda, si esamina il caso del centro storico di Balvano, in provincia di Potenza, dove gli architetti Botti ed Eibl hanno realizzato diversi progetti di inserimento nel centro storico danneggiato dal terremoto del 1980.
