The paper defines a methodology to develop the right interaction between land use and transport systems that can be applied to the modern urban contexts. The case study of the city of Rome will be analyzed, in order to highlight the current problems arising from an automobile-oriented land use policy, the measures of the existing planning tools will be evaluated and possible interventions policy will be outlined.
