In this paper we identify and estimate the presence of spill-over effects generated by industrial subsidies in the Southern regions of Italy. The identification problem is resolved by conditioning to a set of spatial variables using an econometric model. The identification strategy is based on two effects: “diffusion” effect (from subsidized LLS to contiguous areas) and “received” effects (where the effects depend on to the weight of subsidized contiguous areas). The results show the presence of a positive diffusion effect and a negative “received” effect . Both effects have a statistical significance that depends on the empirical econometric specifications.

Abstract
In this paper we identify and estimate the presence of spill-over effects generated by industrial subsidies in the Southern regions of Italy. The identification problem is resolved by conditioning to a set of spatial variables using an econometric model. The identification strategy is based on two effects: “diffusion” effect (from subsidized LLS to contiguous areas) and “received” effects (where the effects depend on to the weight of subsidized contiguous areas). The results show the presence of a positive diffusion effect and a negative “received” effect . Both effects have a statistical significance that depends on the empirical econometric specifications.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
