Cristina e le arti Il saggio prende in esame l’attività collezionistica di Cristina di Svezia, in particolare nel trentennio della sua residenza a Roma dopo aver lasciato il trono di Svezia e aver abbracciato la religione cattolica. Viene analizzata la lunga e complessa storiografia, evidenziando la ripresa di interesse di questi ultimi anni (1990-2005) in cui in particolare predomina la figura di mecenate delle arti e collezionista di monete, medaglie, dipinti e sculture antichi e moderni, arazzi, libri e manoscritti. Si pubblicano due inventari inediti relativi uno ai quadri della regina pervenuti al duca di Orléans e una nota delle statue antiche che Cristina aveva fatto acquistare a Roma nel 1649-50,quando era ancora a Stoccolma. Dall’analisi di questi documenti emergono nuovi dati sulla identificazione di alcune importanti opere d’arte allora facenti parte della collezione e di alcune sculture mai arrivate in Svezia.

Christina and the Arts The essay considers Christina of Sweden's art collecting, in particular during her thirty years' sojourn in Rome where she lived after having renounced the throne and having become catholic. The long and complex historiography has been considered as well as the recent renewed interest on Christina during the last years (1990-2005). The former Queen of Sweden is described as a patron and an art collector of ancient and modern coins, medals, paintings, sculptures, tapestries, books and manuscripts. Two ancient inventories, not known until now, are here published: they list both the famous paintings sold to the Duke of Orléans after Christina’s art collecting dispersal and some ancient sculptures bought in 1649-50 by her agent in Rome while she still was in Stockholm. The analysis of these inventories provides new data on the identification of some important works of art of her collection and on some sculptures which never reached the Swedish court.
