We consider a simple and effective solution for unbundling the local loop in optical access networks, based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technique, without coherent detection. The proposed architecture has a reduced power consumption and allows a flexible and scalable resource assignment among the operators and/or the users. System performances are numerically investigated, evaluating the bit error rate and the error vector magnitude parameters for different link reaches, number of users and modulation formats.

Abstract
We consider a simple and effective solution for unbundling the local loop in optical access networks, based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technique, without coherent detection. The proposed architecture has a reduced power consumption and allows a flexible and scalable resource assignment among the operators and/or the users. System performances are numerically investigated, evaluating the bit error rate and the error vector magnitude parameters for different link reaches, number of users and modulation formats.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
