The superconducting properties of S\/F\/S (Superconductor\/Ferromagnet\/Superconductor) heterostructures have been studied using wideband microwave measurements. Nb\/PdNi\/Nbtrilayers with different F layer thickness have been studied. Measurements show evidence for a progressively weaker vortex pinning with increasing F thickness. However, as it was shown by structural study, this is not a result of disorder in the samples. We argue that the F layer acts on the superconducting state itself, lowering the superfluid density.

Abstract

The superconducting properties of S\/F\/S (Superconductor\/Ferromagnet\/Superconductor) heterostructures have been studied using wideband microwave measurements. Nb\/PdNi\/Nbtrilayers with different F layer thickness have been studied. Measurements show evidence for a progressively weaker vortex pinning with increasing F thickness. However, as it was shown by structural study, this is not a result of disorder in the samples. We argue that the F layer acts on the superconducting state itself, lowering the superfluid density.
