In the last 50 years, creativity has been variously studied and interpreted. The main issues arisen in the discussion about creativity are: nature (talent) vs culture (achievement); intelligence (I.Q.) vs creativity; creativity outcome vs creativity process (the act itself). Nowadays, these dichotomies don’t apply anymore, as creativity is seen as a transversal strategy affecting a large number of skills and domains. The authors present the outcomes of a study on LD and MR children, in order to show how some creative methods and procedures can improve a child’s creative performances and academical achievement.

Abstract

In the last 50 years, creativity has been variously studied and interpreted. The main issues arisen in the discussion about creativity are: nature (talent) vs culture (achievement); intelligence (I.Q.) vs creativity; creativity outcome vs creativity process (the act itself). Nowadays, these dichotomies don’t apply anymore, as creativity is seen as a transversal strategy affecting a large number of skills and domains. The authors present the outcomes of a study on LD and MR children, in order to show how some creative methods and procedures can improve a child’s creative performances and academical achievement.
