The essay has had a notable influence in re-directing the current re-evaluation of R. L. Stevenson. For the first time, here, Ambrosini sets forth an interpretative model which allows to link together the writer's most significant literary essays, thus outlining the poetics which he then applied in his fictional writing. This approach finally opens the possibility of assessing the originality of Stevenson's polygraphic production, which up till now appeared radically irreconcilable to late nineteenth-century British fiction. Ambrosini, who organized the first biennial international conference on Stevenson in 2002 (and edited the proceedings which will be published by University of Wisconsin Press), has published thirteen essays in English and in Italian on this subject as well as a major monograph (R. L. Stevenson e la poetica del romanzo, Roma, 2001) . Currently he is working on a book in English on Stevenson, anthropology and popular literature.

Abstract
Currently he is working on a book in English on Stevenson, anthropology and popular literature.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
