The introduction retraces the making of this book, written by men and women who costantly question their ways of teaching (in primary school, in secondary schools, at university level); the introduction then illustrates how, starting from the common conviction that language (and literature) have a central political import, the essays variously reflect on the manifold implications of such a conviction.
