The paper reviews some aspects of the expression, communication and transmission of emotions in chat and forum, among which emoticons, greetings, and some cases of punctuation. In this way it stresses how the need of communicating emotional aspects of interaction holds also in computer mediated communication, and hence it proposes the use of Talking Faces in such environments in order to fulfil such needs. Then it presents "Lucia", an Embodied Agent endowed with a Talking Face that communicates by voice, lip movements and facial expression, and it shows how a such device can make computer mediated itneraction more friendly and engaging.
