Aim of the study is to describe and estimate the occurrence of malformations in two species of protected areas of Latium: Monterano Natural Reserve, Circeo National Park and Castelporziano Presidential Estate. Newts from Circeo NP showed the highest frequency of deformities which involved primarily autopodial bones. Exposition to pesticide run off from the surrounding intensive cultivated fields may be the major cause of these malformities.
