A procedure for approximating the aerodynamic matrix as a reduced order model is introduced. This allows one to recast the aeroelastic problem in a state space format, which facilitates aeroelastic analyses as well as implementations of state-space feedback controls. The elements of the approximate aerodynamic matrix are found solving by a constrained minimum problem. The methodology used for solving this problem is based upon the conjugate gradient method and is presented in details. The advantages of the approach and problems encountered in using the method are discussed. Numerical results are included.

Abstract
A procedure for approximating the aerodynamic matrix as a reduced order model is introduced. This allows one to recast the aeroelastic problem in a state space format, which facilitates aeroelastic analyses as well as implementations of state-space feedback controls. The elements of the approximate aerodynamic matrix are found solving by a constrained minimum problem. The methodology used for solving this problem is based upon the conjugate gradient method and is presented in details. The advantages of the approach and problems encountered in using the method are discussed. Numerical results are included.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
