Abstract

"One of the most important aspects of evaluation and monitoring of students in distance learning is the content of the teaching materials and how it is presented to learners. The research project Orbis Dictus, implemented by the Department of Educational Design (DiPED) of Roma Tre University, has as its main aim to represent an innovative way to deliver an automatically adapted e-learning material based on lexical statistical computation. . The innovative Orbis Dictus platform, through its LexMeter module, creates an initial profile estimating the learner’s level depending on his\/her lexical competency. Using the results obtained by LexMeter, the Adapter module automatically adjusts the course contents.. The idea of the ProgressMeter has emerged from the need for an intermediate measurement tool to help observe the learner’s gradual improvement through the learning path. This approach leads to a more detailed and precise estimation of the learner’s current level resulting to a better-modulated teaching content.. "
