THE VIA LATINA: ANALYSIS, READING AND INTERPRETATION OF THE ANCIENT LANDSCAPE. METHODOLOGY AND ENHANCEMENT OF HERITAGE. LA VIA LATINA: ANALISI, LETTURA E INTERPRETAZIONE DEL PAESAGGIO ANTICO. METODOLOGIA E VALORIZZAZIONE DEL PATRIMONIO STORICO

The proposed work focuses on the reading of the territory of the Roman area, inside a Laboratory of Thesis, starting from the analysis of natural signs that constitute ordering elements, so as to identify the characters and the correlation between physical factors and anthropogenic factors. The goal is to examine the Via Latina, starting from its value of territorial structuring until reaching to the analysis of urban transformation, in order to approach the study of the path using a dual approach: territorial and urban, relevant to the meaning, and not only to the scale. In this regard shall mean: a reading of the path grasping its native role of structuring of the territory, a way to cover a portion of space inevitably linked to the hydro-morphological structure and to be architrave of a road system within an environment in via of human settlement. The study of the whole structure, which is more exhaustive then the anthropogenic dynamics, is necessary to better understand the components of the urban section which, although important, are derived from an original acquisition of the territory concerning the route.
