Borders and peripheries of the Roman Empire provide important contexts for the study of the learning of Latin language and script through Antiquity and Late Antiquity. A survey of the archaeological, literary and written evidence allows to detect analogies and differences, longlasting and ephemeral phaenomena in the spread and application of quite consistent teaching and learning models.
