The island of Ponza was always in the interest of the sovereigns of Naples as a area of frontier and a node in the maritime networks between Naples, and Gaeta, Sardinia in the West, Rome, and Tuscany in the North and Sicily and North Africa in the South. The Borbouns understood that strategic localization of the island and to achieve the control of the sourrounding seas they promoted the population process of Ponza. Trough an archival investigation, we would to enlight the process of territorialmente that allowed to the sovereigns to control the seas before the northern maritime frontier of the Kingdom of Naples.
