In this contribution, we present a compact polarization rotator consisting of a single chiral particle able to transform a linearly polarized wave in the corresponding cross-polarized wave. Thanks to its electrically thin structure, it can find applications in both radiating and transmitting components at microwave frequencies. In particular, exploiting its polarization rotation capability, we first use the particle to efficiently transfer power between two orthogonally connected rectangular waveguides. Then, we show that the proposed component can be used to rotate the polarization state of a standard horn antenna obtaining, around the resonant frequency of the particle, good radiating and matching performances.

Abstract
In this contribution, we present a compact polarization rotator consisting of a single chiral particle able to transform a linearly polarized wave in the corresponding cross-polarized wave. Thanks to its electrically thin structure, it can find applications in both radiating and transmitting components at microwave frequencies. In particular, exploiting its polarization rotation capability, we first use the particle to efficiently transfer power between two orthogonally connected rectangular waveguides. Then, we show that the proposed component can be used to rotate the polarization state of a standard horn antenna obtaining, around the resonant frequency of the particle, good radiating and matching performances.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
