In this paper we examine the problem of precision reliability measurement using commercial components for a satellite's avionics. Specifically, different configurations of an S-Band transponder are investigated, accurately determining its reliability, both contrived with space-grade and commercial components. Subsequently, to compensate for the inevitable lowering of the λ, two different redundancy configurations are proposed in order to obtain an acceptable reliability figure.

Abstract

In this paper we examine the problem of precision reliability measurement using commercial components for a satellite's avionics. Specifically, different configurations of an S-Band transponder are investigated, accurately determining its reliability, both contrived with space-grade and commercial components. Subsequently, to compensate for the inevitable lowering of the λ, two different redundancy configurations are proposed in order to obtain an acceptable reliability figure.
