The issue of managing obsolescence is becoming more and more topical, this is due to the very nature of the technology that evolves and makes it iteratively obsolescent itself. Obviously, each technical sector becomes obsolete in different way and in the different time, therefore, every technology has its own obsolescence curve. This paper identifies a method to define, measure and manage this risk. The implementation of this method offers the opportunity for a significant improvement in the life span of the systems. The method allows, in the design phase, to correct those elements that statistically most influence, in terms of obsolescence, on the degradation of the life expectancy of the complex system.
