The University of Roma Tre, with the scientific responsibility of Antonio Pugliano, is developing a digital information system, on a geographical basis, referring to Lazio and Rome in particular. The focus of the work is the interaction between the digital culture and the design process of restoration and enhancement. The Research is carried out by investigating the most up-to-date tools and methods for the systemic structuring of knowledge of the territory, for the characterisation of buildings, fabrics and archaeological and geological substrates. The current objective of the work is to contribute to the fruition and security of the historical landscape through the dissemination, in an innovative and attractive digital key, information leading to the design of philological restoration and the prevention of seismic and hydrogeological risk. The method is based on the digital processing of information extracted from direct and indirect historical sources concerning monuments, urban structures and buildings. The Atlas actually consists of a collection of Gis in which the sources are made unpublished by their critical arrangement and their digital transcription and are prepared to express summary data useful to compose, for comparison and aggregation, the thematic informative scenarios useful both for the planning of the restoration and the valorization of architectures and sites, and for the governance of the territory.
