Il Tractatus Harleianus περὶ μέτρων e il De metris di Niccolò Perotti

The Greek source of Niccolò Perotti’s De metris is the anonymous Byzantine treatise published for the first time in 1855 by Gaisford based on ms. Harley 5635. The humanist alternates it with Servius’s Centimeter, replacing and integrating the examples with verses taken from Latin poets of the classical age. Horace is also cited as an authoritative witness of the antiquity of the iambic trimeter. The final chapter, for its part, is modelled on the metric expositio of the pseudoachronian scolia. Fi- nally, there are echoes of previous grammatical treatises and polemical allusions to Bede’s De arte metrica.

Fonte greca del De metris di Niccolò Perotti è l’anonimo trattato bizantino pubblicato per la prima volta dal Gaisford nel 1855 sulla base del ms. Harley 5635, che l’umanista al- terna al Centimeter di Servio, sostituendone e integrandone gli esempi con versi ricavati dai poeti latini di età classica. Orazio è citato anche come autorevole testimone dell’an- tichità del trimetro giambico. Il capitolo finale è invece ricavato dalla expositio metrica degli scoli pseudoacroniani. Non mancano echi della precedente trattatistica grammati- cale e allusioni polemiche al De arte metrica di Beda.
